So as not to keep silent and in order to provide a practical response to the injustice imposed on immigrants, their dignity and their very life, the Service for Immigrants was set up in the heart of the Pope John XXIII Community.

The service considers it of vital importance to discuss and take action on the themes of immigration, citizenship and integration, getting involved at local, national and international level, looking at the link between immigration and the various factors affecting the relationship between the North and South of the world, analysing the deep-seated reasons behind the phenomenon of migration.

Our priority is to be active both in defence of the inalienable rights of migrants in various areas of the Italian nation, doing this in line with the precepts of welcoming and solidarity demanded of us by the Church, and also in defence of foreign citizens who, despite EU and international regulations, are rejected and subject to forced repatriation.

The Service for Immigrants undertakes to investigate the national and international structural mechanisms that impinge on the rights of migrants and refugees. The service creates opportunities, both within and outside the Pope John XXIII Community Association, for reflection, training and learning more about international problems and emergencies, networking with other national and international bodies, both governmental and non-governmental, to promote initiatives and practical action to remove the causes of injustice, giving a voice to those without one.

Politics has its own mediation needs.
Welcoming is evangelical. Emigration is a right, a form of solidarity, a duty.
